what are the best travel sleeping bags

Desperate for a new travel handbag! Have to admit, on my last few trips I’ve tried to go hands free and gone for a funky ‘bum-bag’ or money belt, but these look super cute!! I don’t travel an awful lot but I am addicted to this blog! The best tips I picked up were to pick a colour and go with it for my travel wardrobe… we applied this when we had 2 weeks glampling in the south of France last year and travelled hand luggage only! Amazing! I would never have thought this was possible! The tip that I would share with you all (that I don’t recall seeing) is possibly not necessarily space saving (!!!) but my husband and I NEVER travel without a pack of cards. Great entertainment and great for meeting new people.

This is more of a 'purse backpack – a sleek, frills-free anti theft backpack that will fit everything you need for a day trip and comes in red, teal and black. It features a couple of pockets and a padded electronic sleeve: just be aware that laptops larger than 13” likely won’t fit inside it. It’s not particularly stylish, but you’d be able to wear it around both urban and rural areas without raising eyebrows.

One travel tip I have is to pack two or three binder clips with you. They are small to pack but useful for securing hotel/hostel/accommodation curtains shut. This helps block out the light more and make it easier to sleep which is helpful when you are adjusting to a new schedule & overcoming jet lag. Another tip is to try to switch whatever toiletries you can to solids. There are great options for solid shampoo bars, body wash bars, face wash bars, lotion bars, etc.
I am a minimalist. That doesn’t mean I live like a monk; I do enjoy the good things in life. It just means I don’t buy a lot of stuff because I learned a long time ago that everything you own owns you. So I have very few material possessions. But the few things I do own are the finest things money can buy. In my closet, I have two suits, a wardrobe of 7 pants and shirts, and three pairs of shoes. I even have one sofa in my 1,000 square foot condominium that will outlast me, because it is the last sofa I will ever purchase (and I’m only 41 years old). You get the picture. So that is why I consider this to be the last gym bag I will ever purchase. It has plenty of room for my running shoes, workout clothes, towel, and the No. 2 shaving kit. What else does a guy need? Nothing as far as I’m concerned. And if you get sticker shock, think about all the $50 gym bags that you would have purchased over the next 50 years.

how to lock travel bags

Made of durable canvas and “genuine Crazy Horse” leather, this weekender was made to last. Reviewers were so impressed with the amount of space in this bag that they posted lists of all the items they were able to fit inside of it. They also noted the thick shoulder strap, which makes it easy to carry four to five days worth of clothing hands-free.
I think the the tip that revolutionized my packing was being told I did not have to pack a new outfit for each day. I knew how to mix different pieces at home, with a wash and and a week in between re-wears, but realizing I could bring only three bottoms and four tops for a week (or more) by simply mixing and matching and planning ahead transformed the way I pack.

It can be a little hard to close because there is a metal frame where the zipper is to keep it’s doctor bag shape. So if you overstuff the bag, you may not be able to close it. There are plenty of pockets inside to keep everything organized. The pockets for electronics are padded. (I love that there’s a pocket for my laptop and a separate for my ipad). The biggest plus to this bag and probably one of the main reasons i picked this bag over other ... full review
As I said, it’s smallish. The way the top flap cinches down means it’s more of a triangular prism than a rectangular one (for those mathematically inclined). So it definitely requires more thought and planning. But I just packed it with two pair of pants, three shirts, a pair of slippers, couple undershirts, a watch cap, couple of socks, and some other odds and ends. Not too bad. My new goal in life is “pack light” and this bag forces you to.

What would you recommend to avoid being robbed? One place I read, suggested a backpack. A backpack surely seems unsafe and you can’t see them going into your bag. I was in Egypt in 09 and a lot of people were robbed while sightseeing. Please advise as I’ll be traveling to South Africa (Johannesburg and Cape Town) soon and doing a lot of sightseeing. I like the idea of the anti theft one mentioned in your article.

I always try to blend in like a local. I don’t talk loudly or draw attention to myself even when I am lost. I always keep my valuables in two safe places, one being a discrete Anti-theft mini cross body bag and had no problems all over Italy and Berlin last year. I have just purchased a Travelon messenger bag for an upcoming trip to Europe, where I will travel alone for most of it.

The size is perfect for I'd say a two-to four-day trip, and it's absolutely the ideal carry-on. I just recently checked at the airport. It fits headlong or sideways into any larger plane's overhead bin — a major advantage — and will never rouse the contempt of flight attendants or gate checkers looking to cut down on carry on by forcing you to check your bag. At the same time, I was able to pack it for a week-long international trip recently (which is pushing it somewhat) but worth it all to skip the airport carrousels and keep all my important things close by.
I roll my shirts and tshirts and put them around my suitcase so in the middle i can put some fragile souvenirs like beer cans, or some eatables in glass (i love to eat, the beer is to give as present) and all is wrapped inside a plastic bag just in case! Everything ends up good packed and fixed because we know the airport won’t care and throw our luggage like freesbies
In general, the outer pockets on the top and bottom of the bag embed into the larger bag, so if you are searching for something in the larger bag, you have to move around the outer pockets to look around. It seems it might be better to just have layered pockets so that if you were looking at the bag from the top, there were two different larger pockets you could open to get into the main space of the bag.
Don’t let the rain keep you from exploring. This Baggallini crossbody is also a stylish travel purse, light and water-resistant, so you can take advantage of wet travel days without worrying about your valuables and electronics getting drenched. It comes with a removable RFID-resistant wallet you can pull out of the middle of the bag. For me, this feels safer than having an outside zippered pocket for my cards.
Summer is finally here and we plan to set up 'out of office' auto-reply every chance we get. Upgrade your travel style with a chic carryall that says "I'm an adult"—even if your weekend is filled with questionable decisions. Currently, we're eyeing Land's End's latest dip into their archives, a minimalist's dream carryon, and more bags worthy of your next three-day weekend. Pro tip: If you're looking for a classic leather duffel, don't forget to check out the men's section. For some wild reason these unisex options can usually be found there.
I love my Henri Bendel Jetsetter Convertible Backpack! I have the larger and smaller bag. I used the larger one during my trip to Amesterdam and Paris. It was large enough for a rain jacket, light sweatshirt, water bottle, and my normal purse items (sun glasses, wallet, etc.). The bag was definitely full but I was out all day and the temperature changed greatly from morning to night. It was nice having everything I needed to stay comfortable. A few museums made you leave larger bags at the bag check and they seemed to only ask people with backpacks to check their bags. I loved the ability to quickly change the backpack to a handbag and bring it into museums. I hate leaving my personal belongings in the care of someone else. I highly recommend them!

how to use space saver travel bags

I love my bag!!! This is a beautiful bag with quality workmanship. It comes with a large inside zipper compartment trimmed in leather, leather luggage tag, brass feet and tasteful logo stamp at bottom front of bag. The hardware is sturdy as well a nice looking. It looks more expensive than it is so its a real bargain. I love the leather smell also. The description only mentioned the cellphone pockets, pen and card holder so I got more than expected. The outer zipper is metal YKK with leather tab. It's roomy with enough space for a weekend rendezvous. I'm very pleased!!

Thanks for the info on these bags and ways to stay safe….my personal comments/tips: 1) I never, ever, carry a bag out when I will be in crowded public areas—I put my id, day cash, lip crème/mirror in an inside pocket of blouse/jacket or secure pants pocket. Sling a water bottle & umbrella if necessary…and go. You find out quickly what is vital……only carry those items in all possible situations. If I feel safer or absolutely have to carry a bag out–I make sure first that it is as small as possible and a cross-body style….that I can wear UNDER a light blouse, jacket, coat re weather conditions. These tactics keep me safer and prevent me from losing stuff….which I am prone to do if I carry too much!! There’s a sad story about Rx sunglasses and a sheep in Ireland!!
Such an important issue to be aware of. Many years ago we were in Paris. My husband squatted low to ground to get perfect vantage point pic of Notre Dame when a man came behind him and started to reach out towards him. I yelled and the man backed away & left. Not sure what he was planning but my husband had no idea he was there. We were lucky in that I was far enough away he didn’t realize we were together & that he decided not to do anything.
My #1 travel tip (besides an anti-theft bag) is a Travel Checklist. A spreadsheet with all the items you travel with. I separate things by category…toiletries, clothes, travel documents, etc. If I don’t need a specific item on that trip, then just cross it out. This keeps my husband and I organized and prevents us from forgetting things when we travel. We’re always adding to it and keeping it updated.
I am a bit overdue in writing this – I’ve had this grip bag for a bit over two years. No matter where in the world I go the bag never, never fails to meet my needs AND to garner the most highest of praise from men and women alike. Quality is second to none I’ve seen, excellent ‘use-ability’, and simply great looking. Sure you can spend less but this surely is a case where you get what you pay for … enjoy it.. I do!
