In my opinion there are six Hawaii vacations wrapped into one, when you vacation in Hawaii and spend time on each one of the six islands. A huge portion of Hawaii’s economy is made up of the tourist trade. By researching different Hawaiian vacation packages you can often times find bargains and save money on your Hawaii airlines, hotel accommodations, and various adventure activities.

Visitors are drawn to Hawaii because of its spectacular beaches, wonderful scenery, and tropical climate that cannot be found any where else on earth. The fresh floral air invigorates you and the breathtaking view renews you to such an extent that you start telling everyone you meet; “a trip to Hawaii every year will keep the doctor away.”

Hawaii Vacation Packages – Oahu

The island of Oahu is the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands and is known as “The Gathering Place” since it is the most populated of the six islands. The state capital of Honolulu is located on the southeastern corner of the island.

Ala Moana is the name of a commercial, retail, and residential district of Honolulu nestled between Waikiki to the East and Honolulu Harbor to the West. It features a vast stretch of reef-protected white sandy beaches. The Ala Moana Center is today considered to be the largest open-air shopping center in the world.

The island of Oahu is about 600 square miles, 44 miles long and 30 miles across.

Hawaii Vacation Packages – Maui

The island of Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands consisting of 727 square miles and ranks third in population figures. Kahului is the largest city on the island. Maui is also called “Valley Isle” for the large fertile isthmus between its two volcanos.

At one point in time sugar cane cultivation used over 80% of the island’s water supply. The water used for sugar cultivation is taken mostly from the streams of East Maui, routed through a network of tunnels that were hand dug by the early Chinese laborers.

Hawaii Vacation Packages – Kauai

With an area of 552 square miles, this is the forth largest of the six islands. It is also known as the “Garden Isle” and is one of the wettest spots on earth with an annual rainfall of 460 inches. This high annual rainfall has eroded deep valleys in the central mountains, carving out canyons with many scenic waterfalls.

Hawaii Vacation Package – Molokai

This island is 38 miles long and 10 miles wide, making it the fifth largest of the six islands. The lights of Honolulu are clearly visible at night from the west end of Molokai, while nearby Lanai and Maui are clearly visible from anywhere along the south shore of the island.

Hawaii Vacation Package – Lanai

This is the smallest of the islands and also is known as the “Pineapple Island.” The island is 140 square miles, and many of the landmarks are located off dirt roads where only four wheel drives can navigate.

Hawaii Vacation Packages – The Big Island (Hawaii)

The largest of the six islands by far, it is 4,028 square miles and is larger than all the other islands combined. This island is built from five separate volcanoes that erupted, overlapping each other.
